Primary Source Resources by Grade Level

Primary Source Sets– Grades K-12 and Beyond the Bubble Assessment Alignment to Mississippi College and Career Ready Standards

Below you will be able to access Library of Congress primary source sets and Beyond the Bubble (from Stanford History Education Group) assessments aligned to the Mississippi State College and Career Standards. The Library of Congress used to have a search feature to make their primary source sets accessible, but have removed that from their site and we felt it was useful to make it easy for you to find resources you need.

Primary source sets are a great way to get started with using primary sources in the classroom. Each set comes with a teacher guide that provides background information and teaching ideas for how to use the primary sources in the set.

The Beyond the Bubble History Assessment for Thinking (HATs) help to support historical thinking skills.

Note: The Beyond the Bubble (BB) Assessments are not generally designed for younger than 7th grade. However, it is useful and instructive for teachers of younger students to see what types of activities older students could be doing with their knowledge of historical thinking.

Note: We will update these resources as we see that new sets are created and as we make connections between standards and the sets available.
